A Call to Action:

The nationally recognized Carnegie Task Force on Meeting the Needs of
Young Children
, issued  four recommendations for immediate
implementation.  These recommendations will establish
Starting Points for children
and their families:

  •  Promote Responsible Parenthood.

    Society must foster both personal and social responsibility for having and raising
    children.

  • Guarantee Quality Child Care Choices.  

    Children need continuing relationships with a few caring people in a safe and
    predictable environment.

  • Ensure Good Health and Protection.

    Children need to grow up in safe homes and neighborhoods.

  • Mobilize Communities to Support Young Children and Their Families.

    Every family with a child should have quality, comprehensive health care, and
    parenting Support.



Programs Available:

  • Play group for children ages 3-5 years.

  • OB/GYN services through Shenandoah Women's Center.

  • County Collaborative for teen pregnancy prevention.

  • Family Resources Coordination.

  • Developmental screenings and referrals.

  • Parent/childcare provider classes through Mountain Heart Child Care
    Resource and Referral.

  • CPR classes.

  • Assistance with educational, health, and basic needs.

  • Parent and Child Lending Library

  • Mommy and Me support group for first time young moms.

  • Let's Read AmeriCorps Literacy Program.

  • Emergency Baby Pantry.

  • Car Safety Seat Resources

  • Plausible Pumps

  • Meal Time

services without regard
to income.

each family to meet their
individual needs.

we can help.
Founded by the Family Resource Network of the Panhandle, Inc,  
Morgan County Starting Points Family Resource Center is also a participant in the
WV AmeriCorps/VISTA Literacy program through the Corporation for National and
Community Service, Title V -NCOA Older Americans Employment Program, and
funded in part by the WV Department of Health and Human Resources, community
generosity, United Way of the Eastern Panhandle, and the Shenandoah
Valley Medical Center.
