The little Red Wagon is a symbol of
childhood.  It should be filled with
children's hopes and dreams, never
weighted down with their burdens.

We must help our kids pull their wagon
along.  Let's all pull together.

Our Mission:  to mobilize people from every sector of American life to build

    tutors, or coaches.

  • Safe Places - safe places with structured activities during non-school hours.

  • Healthy Start - healthy start and future.

  • Marketable Skills - marketable skills through effective education.

AmeriCorps Promise fellows in the Eastern Panhandle mobilize their
communities to develop strategies for reaching 2,000 children with the five
fundamental resources identified by American's Promise as necessary for
adults.  Promise Fellows are recruiting 300 new mentors, expanding after-
school programs, involving youth in community service projects, and
assisting with Children's Health Insurance Program outreach.  They work to
identify organizations, businesses, churches, and schools of promise.  A
Promise Community Maker insures that all Five Promises are fulfilled for as
many children and youth as possible through a diverse community
    collaboration.

The future of our kids is
riding on us.  The time
for action is NOW!
Where we live, where we
work, where we know
kids by name.  We all
have something to
offer.

Who can Volunteer?

Programs don't change
kids. Relationships do,
Bill Miliken, Communities in
Schools
Founder

As a society, we must join
together to meet kids'
essential needs.  There
are countless
ways that each one of us
can get involved, right in
our own communities

Community Service is
the way Americans
solved community
problems.  This has been
the solution throughout
our history.  When
people volunteer their
talents, they strengthen
communities and our
way of life.  People also
find that when they help
others, they are capable
of more than they ever
thought possible.  In a
time of heightened
security, we must work
together to keep our
community strong.
