| The Family
Resource Network (FRN) OTP, Inc, is a 501(C)(3)
Non Profit Corporation managed by a Board of Directors representing Berkeley, Morgan, and Jefferson Counties. It was established in 1998. Half of the Board seats are from the community, the other half from service providers in the community. The West Virginia Legislature and former Governor Caperton established the Governor's Cabinet on Children and Families to help communities take an active role in defining and delivering services in their local communities. However, the Governor's Cabinet was a statewide entity and not established at the local levels. Then the concept of establishing a Family Resource Network in each West Virginia County was born. The legislation authorized the formation of FRN's (Family Resource Networks) to ensure local communities play a significant role in determining the needs of and services for it's own children and families. The Family Resource Network of the Panhandle, Inc, has been a clearinghouse of information for the community in the areas of child and family services and community activities. It has been instrumental in facilitating discussions between the organizations providing these services and communities. It has also lead in providing information on community needs to service providers, as well as how to serve the needs of the community in the most efficient and effective manner. |
